Plot
Kittan is an aspiring Kabaddi player. However, his talent didn’t get enough recognition in his village due to caste-politics. Pandiayaraja and Kandasamy lead two factions, and the people who support them clash against each other, which even ended up in murder. Kittan is away from these politics to achieve his dream of playing for India. After a lot of effort, he gets a place in Team India. However, he was benched in many matches during the Asian Games held in Japan. Was he able to grab the nation’s attention? The rest of the story speaks about this.
Star Performance
Dhruv has delivered an impactful performance. His eruption with quiet rage is interesting to watch. He controlled his role well and delivered what was required for his role. Pasupathy is the real show-stealer. His expressions are fantastic. He excellently emotes every feeling that his character needed. Rajisha gets a solid role, and she elevates Dhruv and Pasupathy’s performances with her neat delivery. Anupama is okay in her role. Ameer did what his role needed, and so does Lal. Madhan proved that he is a good performer.
Analysis
It is a regular sports drama with predictable scenes. But the difference is in the making and the performances. The characters are solid, and the stars fit well in the roles. Although Anupama’s role is pretty decent, she didn’t get enough space to prove her acting prowess. Her portions with Dhruv should’ve been written strongly, and her potential should’ve been utilized well. The visuals are fantastic, and the BGM is one of the strong pillars of this film. The way some scenes are pictured takes us to the village side, and we can feel the smell of the soil in the dialogue. Yet again, Mari Selvaraj has taken a caste-based story and delivered it in his style.
