Plot
Subbu lives in Padathi, a traditional village, where women should cover their faces, and only their family members are allowed to see their faces. If they break this tradition of unveiling the veil, it is believed that they welcome the curse of Jwalamma, the goddess. Subbu’s marriage is fixed to Rajesh. In a turn of events, Subbu got photographed by a person when she lost her veil. Her photo was published on a magazine’s cover. After learning this, her marriage was cancelled. Rathna, her aunt, supports Subbu in getting healed from the incident. Amishta, a woman, joins them. Who is she? What’s her participation in their lives?
Star Performance
Anupama handled her role well. She fits well in the character, and expresses perfectly as a woman who is stuck between the customs and freedom. Darshana is excellent as Amishta. She is good in the comedy timing, and her chemistry with Anupama is good. Sangeetha is perfect in the role. She delivered a natural performance.
Analysis
The director established the plot well in the opening scenes. However, it loses pace on the go. Although the first half is quite interesting and moves at a brisk pace, the second half loses its grip. Not all the emotional scenes are a hit. Darshana should’ve been provided with more screen time, as her character is the pillar of the story. Rajendra Prasad and GVM are just present. Their roles should’ve been developed well, and their presence should’ve been felt. The BGM helps to elevate many scenes, but the songs are not much impressive, except for a couple. The visuals are beautiful, and the editing should’ve been better in the second half.
