Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi….a strange title indeed. Director Anil Radhakrishnan Menon is known for his unique titles in his couple of other directorial endeavors including Sapthamashree Thaskara and North 24 Katham. These two ventures were noted for their interesting story. While the title of this flick is unique, the plot doesn’t do anything good to the film. However, safeguarding the earth is a contemporary theme and the director should be lauded for taking such a concept. Malayalam movie has not worked on this subject before.

Kunchacko Boban works for the survival of a tribal area (a fictional village named 7000 Kandi) of over 500 years. He thus gets help from individuals, who are not close to each other. And here they travel through greeneries and forests . The team of 8 is indeed filled with persons of varying backgrounds. And all these people have their own roles.

Star performance

Kunchacko Boban has understood his character very well and gives the rugged picture nicely.Nedumudi Venu is his energetic self. Sudheer Karamana Sudheer Karamana is a Malayalam films’ actor. Kara >> Read More... has done a neat job.

Technical Aspects

For such a film, the cinematography should be par excellence and Jayesh Nair Jayesh Nair is an Indian Cinematographer. He was b >> Read More... has done a commendable job. The splendor of the forests is shown with utmost beauty by Jayesh Nair. VFX and art direction are its best. The tribal rustic area is shown with great fervor. Though Rex Vijayan’s music reminisces of his old tunes, the number Kunnimani remained etched in one’s heart. Sushin Shyam’s background music vibes with the enthralling visuals.

Analysis

There is no question as far as the freshness of the film. The film somewhat falls under the fantasy adventure genre. The restrained humor of this film is notable. Also the director seems to be clear that he doesn’t want to sermonize. The plot is very simple (which also acts as its drawback) and there are no unnecessary twists in the film. Also,you won’t be inclined to have an emotional connect with the characters of the film.

The film is interspersed with many aspects of a commercial entertainer including an intriguing theme and awesome visuals. However, the scenes of the film are written in such a way that they fail to sit in our heart for a long time. Also, the songs are inserted just for the sake of being a commercial entertainer.

Verdict: This film can be watched to feel its freshness.
