Plot

Two young Malayali boys; Lavan and Kushan become friends on their first meeting. They both want to do a job and earn money but hate to put in the effort. They share a dream of becoming police officers. So one day they accidently got involved with an officer named Joy. These boys had no idea where they were heading, so they decided to help an undercover officer. Lavan and kushan worked for him and later got more involved. They were Involved in a mission to capture dangerous criminals. During the process, they encounter many twists and turns.

Star performance

The film has mainly four characters; Neeraj Madhav as Lavan, Aju as Kushan, Biju as Joy and Deepti as Jeni. The character's blend with humour is appreciable, Neeraj and Aju had delivered what is expected from them. In the songs, Neeraj's dance moves are lovely and enjoyable. The character of Deepti has a minor role compared to the main cast. However, her presence made the script more effective and impactful. Biju Menon's acting as a police officer came with a relatively natural flow. His presence enhanced the entire film.

Analysis

Title of the film, "Lavakusa" indicates two boys, Lavan and Kushan. It revolves around the character of two friends with high ambitions. However, their characters are lazy. They don't want to put in the effort and yet manage to get their dream of working as a police officer fulfilled. The script was more fragmented rather than a continual series. Form and content of the film is abrupt. The movie is supposed to be a comedy- thriller however, the first part is full of comedy and the second part is full of thriller. There is a lack of symmetry within the narrative.

The chemistry between the lead characters is palpable. Cinematography is pretty decent and songs are a significant attraction of the movie. A lack of imagination can be seen in the script as it is more of a fundamental kind. There is no unique idea involved. The paucity in ending and comedic beginning is pretty visible. Throughout the narrative, some comedy scenes were not as comedic as they were supposed to be. It takes a more serious turn towards the end.

What's there?

  • The movie is an exciting blend of thriller, spy, and comedy.
  • The film should be watched with family as it doesn't have any vulgar scenes or dialogue.
  • The film has a perfect connection between characters and script.
  • Songs are one of the many enjoyable parts.
  • It has a conventional setting and background, which brings realism to the script.

What's not there?

  • Within the film, many twists and turns that took place in the character's life are pretty weird.
  • The film lacks depth in the script which makes it more of a basic story.
  • The plot is predictable. It is just an ordinary movie like other Malayalam movies.
  • Characters don't undergo any kind of development; they are instead of a linear kind.

Verdict

Lavakusa is an average entertainment movie. There are many negative aspects of the film but on the other hand it is a good, one time watch. Full of comedy and mystery which maintains the simplicity and consistency of the script.

So one should go for it.
