Plot
Janaki (Navya Nair) is a girl from a middle-class family. She lives with her mother and works in a press. She has a fear of darkness and being alone in open spaces. Moreover, when she hears a loud sound, she gets afraid.

(Saiju Kurup), a road contractor, falls in love with Janaki and marries her. Unni Mukundan's aunt, Satyabhama, is against this marriage.
At this time in the village, there is a rivalry between two political leaders, Shaji (Nazir) and Martin (George Cora). They are competing to win the Panchayat elections. Things become interesting when Janaki and Unni go to a function. Politician Martin is also present in this function. The power goes off, and there is complete darkness. Janaki is afraid and goes to her husband to feel secure. However, when the power is restored, everyone sees her hugging politician Martin by mistake, who is standing near her husband.
The opposition party takes advantage of this situation. They take a photograph of Martin hugging Janaki and viral it on social media. Fake news starts spreading about Martin that he has a relationship with Janaki. Unni and Janaki are forced to leave their home.
What will the couple do now?
Star Performance
After her hit movie Oruthee, Navya Nair shines in this film too. Her fear of darkness adds both comedy and sensitivity to this film. The courage she shows in the film’s last scene is superb. Saiju Kurup looks outstanding in the character of Unni. His expressions and comedic timing are perfect. The love between Navya and Saiju looks beautiful on screen. Kottayam Naseer and George Kora fantastically executed their character of politicians.
Analysis
The initial concept of the film is attractive. The difficulties due to fear and political drama are the main focus of this film. The director has crafted every scene perfectly and introduces several shades of love through two separate couples. The way Unni supports Janaki to overcome her fear is impressive.
However, the film fails at various points. However, the film may give you a feeling of the 1990s and it is very slow-paced. The criticism of media and politicians is not new. It has been depicted previously in many films. The shift from Janaki’s story to a political drama confuses the viewers and makes the narration weak. The film has a weak execution, and the comedy does not work in some scenes.
What’s There?
• Janaki’s fear.
• Political drama.
• The nostalgic feeling of the 1990s.
• Love between Janaki and Unni.
• Excellent performances by the cast.
• The songs are beautiful.
• Attractive cinematography.
• A little bit of comedy.
• Inspiring story.
What’s Not There?
• Weak execution.
• Slow-pacing.
• Lack of unique elements.
• Weak Narration.
• Comedy fails in some scenes.
Verdict
The film Janaki Jaane appears to be slow in the beginning, but the ending is superb. The viewers need patience to watch Jaanki Jaane.
