Plot
Thevan and Koran are friends. Thevan is a singer in Malabar. Both friends escape from the Portuguese slave trade. On their way, Yaskhi, a female spirit, killed Koran. Thevan escapes and enters the mansion of Kudumon Potti. Kudumon Potti and his cook are in the mansion. Kudumon offers Thevan to stay at his place. Soon, Thevan finds something mysterious in the mansion. He sees the cook digging a grave and thinks it is for him. But, the cook says that it is not for him but for Satan in the mansion. Thevan is shocked to hear and finds that he has been trapped there for months and has lost his memory. What happened next? The rest of the film deals with this.
Star Performance
Mammootty once again portrayed a different role and has given an excellent performance. He tested a role out of his comfort zone and succeeded in it. Arjun Ashokan has done a fantastic job. His performance is excellent and his body language and expressions are undeniably award-worthy. Sidharth Bharathan is neat in his role.
Analysis
The spooky film by Rahul is good in the horror scenes. The characters are designed well and we feel for Thevan’s character. The first half is spent establishing Kudumon’s character and the length should have been minimized. Though the proceedings bring thrills, it is a bit slow. The dialogues are lengthy and not all will be interested in dialogue parts. The climax is routine as in horror films. The BGM is neat and gelled well with the scenes, giving a spooky feel to the audience. The art director and his team should definitely be praised for designing wonderful sets. Sound design and cinematography also played a major part in the success of Bramayugam.

Verdict
Though the film may not be a cup of tea for all, it is a wonderful film with horror elements and excellent performances. Whether you are a Mammootty fan or not, you can watch this once for the performances and thrill!
