Well, it seems the current obsession of Indian filmmakers is: horror comedy. And here comes Kathe Chitrakathe Nirdeshana Puttana, another film of this genre. Well, has it lived up to the standards set for a good horror-comedy film in Sandalwood? Read more to find out.

Plot

Komal dreams of becoming a filmmaker and for this purpose, he travels from Raichur to Bengaluru. He tries hard and ultimately finds a producer who is interested in his concept. But ironically he comes to the meeting late but manages to tell the story that caused his delay; he had met a ghost. Well, I don’t want to leak the rest of the story. Just rush to your favorite theatre and get engrossed in the film!

Star Performances

Komal is sincere in his portrayal of the aspiring filmmaker. Priyamani is seen in Sandalwood after a long gap and that too in an unusual role. She has done a convincing job. Sadhu Kokila Sadhu Kokila is a Kannada actor who primarily work >> Read More... , Prataph, Anirudh, and Prashanth does what is required of them. The audience will get to watch a different P Ravishankar on screen and yes, he has done a great job.

Analysis

Well, the 2014 Telugu movie Gitanjali had drawn the audience to the theatre, and now Kathe Chitrakathe Nirdeshana Puttana is keen on following its path; Gitanjali has been remade by director Srinivas Raju. As I said before, this genre is one of the current flavors of India, and this film is interspersed with all the required elements for bringing the audience to the theatre.

What’s there?

The twist in the movie needs special mention.
The second half is entertainment galore with all the elements needed to keep the audience hooked to the seat.
Every character is well-etched which is indeed a welcome sign.
In filmmaking, it’s always safe to stick to the fundamentals and this film plays it safe. It has the comedy and horror elements intact.
Comedy and vulgarity go hand in hand nowadays. But behold! This movie does not bank on vulgarity, which is like a whiz of fresh air.

What's not there?

The film has not experimented and is in the safe side. But this is not a major drawback.
