Plot
A series of murders compel the Karnataka Police to act quickly and send an investigating officer. However, further investigation reveals that the victims might not be as innocent as claimed, and the killers may have no other option either.
Star Performances
The only saving grace for this film is the conviction of the acting crew. S Narayan and his team, including lead actor Aditya, do try their best to make up for the lack of a crisp, intriguing narrative.
Even the editing by Shiva Prasad Yadav was decent.
Analysis
A suspense thriller involving the blood mafia? That calls for a brilliant film. S Narayan, who is probably directing his 50th film, had the perfect recipe for a commercial hit. However, the script lost its focus midway.
Apparently, ‘5D’ is a vigilante thriller, that focuses on a wronged family, who has no other option but to seek for revenge. That’s a great idea for a film, especially when there is also a focus on the menace of the blood mafia. The way blood donated by the people is misused for profiteering is also hidden from none.
However, the vision of the makers somehow got lost in the execution. The narrative had too much melodrama for anyone to digest. Despite the able editing, and some decent camerawork, the screenplay was just not intriguing enough for a crime thriller.
Initially, the film was proceeding on a decent track. However, as the film further progressed, the makers had no idea of what narrative to take. Some of the sequences were simply bizarre. The antagonist had no proper character development either.
However, the film wasn’t entirely bad. The acting performances somehow made the film watchable enough. The father-son duo of S Narayan and Aditya did their best to convince the audience with their efforts. Jyothi Rai and Aditi Prabhudeva were decent in their efforts as well

Verdict
‘5 D’ is a film that could have been a brilliant vigilante thriller. The execution of the narrative, however, is a different story. If you are a fan of S Narayan or Aditya, you can still watch this film.
