He is perhaps >> Read More... , an eminent psychiatrist is holidaying on a cruise ship with his two couple friends and out of the two one has a successful relationship and the other one does not. Kajol works as a bartender in the cruise. The moment Ajay sees her, love blossoms, but only for him. He does all the usual ‘impress the girl’ things. He flicks her private diary, takes a note of all her favorite things and does it all to make her fall. Though the trick works, Kajol finds out that Ajay has read it all from her diary and then there is a cute endearing fight. They both get married, but there is not a happily ever after ending. Sadly, Kajol is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and also becomes pregnant. After the baby is born, Kajol’s state turns worse and helpless Ajay sends her to a home. How do the events turn next? What happens to Kajol?
Analysis: Ajay Devgan has brilliantly depicted the emotions faced by a family because of Alzheimer’s disease. The starting of the movie is a bit sluggish, but then it picks up the pace. The cheesy and funny, romantic scenes between Kajol and Ajay make the film breezy in the first half. A tissue or two will surely be needed for the gloomy second half. Ajay lets the audience think and makes us draw our own conclusions instead of forcing an implication on us. Such a complex subject has been crafted really well. The film is draggy and after a point, we literally stop caring for the lead pair.
Star Performances: Kajol’s acting is real, and no one can match her excellent acting skills. There is a constant twinkle in her eyes that gives life to her character. When she is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, the doctors try to pacify her, but she delivers a punch line that will surely win applause. Ajay has exceptionally woven the story line and has done a remarkable job as the captain of the ship. The pressure of directing the film does not compromise Ajay’s acting. He shines throughout the movie be it the romantic scenes or the emotional scenes.
What's There:
• The story is well built and will surely create an impact. It unfolds neatly.
• The Cinematography is highly noteworthy, and the crew members know their craft well.
• The music that is melodic and tuneful suits our mood perfectly.
What's Not There:
• A kick start is missing in the film. The starting scenes are a bit dull-witted, and this could have been avoided.
• The director does not give a hint of what happens to Kajol during her stay in the home.
• The couples who bicker about marriage are annoying and could have had less screen appearance.
• The scenes could have been extremely constricted. The editor has failed to show off his skills.
Verdict: Watch it for the phenomenal acting of Kajol and the splendid directorial debut of Ajay Devgn.
