Released with the name of Speedy Singhs in India, Breakaway is a Hockey Based Canadian film which was released in two languages English And Punjabi and was later dubbed in hindi. The story of a young teenager who is a college dropout because of his lack of interest in studies survives through emotional and religious differences between him and his parents, achieves his goal.

Plot: Rajveer being from a Sikh family settled in Canada. Never finds his interests in his family business or studies, He aspires of becoming a professional ice hockey player someday. He faces emotional differences with his father because of many incidences, one being the lack of turban on Rajveer's head which is the most prominent ritual in the sikh community. Rajveer enjoys playing hockey with his Punjabi friends; one day some players from a professional hockey team insult his friends while playing. Eventually, his team beats their team and realize they have the potential to play professional hockey. So they form a team named Speedy Singhs. Soon it gets enough popularity and with the help of a newly found coach, they enter the Championship, against the wish of Rajveers parents, He lies to his dad that he is working overtime with his job and attends the matches. During the championship, Rajveer develops a soft corner towards the coach’s sister, and soon they start dating each other. Speedy Singhs reaches the finals of the tournament, and Rajveer’s dad spots him playing ice hockey in the semi-finals.

Analysis: Speedy Singh tries to showcase the hidden bond between the Parents and their children along with the power packed ice hockey matches. All the star cast along with popular comedian russell peters somehow manages to make the audience smile with some light humor.

What’s there? 1. Some comedy and emotional sequences which will entertain you for a while. 2. Relationship of a father and a teenager while having differences with each other’s opinion.

What’s not there? 1. The climax is quite predictable as well as the story. 2. Story and dialogues could have been more intriguing.
