Directed by Neeraj Vora and produced by Anil Kapoor, ‘ Shortkut’ is released under the banner of the Anil Kapoor Films Company. Arshad Warsi, Akshay Khanna and Amrita Rao are in the lead roles.

The story mainly focuses on Akshay Khanna, who is an assistant director, but wants to write and become a movie script writer. Arshad Warsi plays the role of a struggling actor, who is waiting on Akshay Khanna to finish his script, so that he can star in the movie. Akshay finally completes his script, but rejects to cast Arshad in his film. Arshad is furious by this decision of Akshay and decides to run off with his script. Arshad steals his script and releases the film under his name. The movie turns out to be a blockbuster at box office. Soon, Arshad becomes a superstar and starts getting offers from big production houses. Akshay, on the other hand, is heartbroken and left alone with his girlfriend, Amrita. He decides to write another script and offers Arshad a lead role in his movie. Arshad straight away rejects his offer, but Akshay decides to keep Arshad in the lead role, without letting him know. Akshay, along with his small budget filmmaking crew, run around Arshad everywhere. They record Arshad all the time and make a movie out of it. When the film is complete and released, it turns out to be a blockbuster. Though the film is a super hit, Arshad’s role in it is very embarrassing and humiliating, which makes him a flop. Akshay gets more and more successful after this film, whereas Arshad decides to steal another script in the end.

The storyline is average and the screenplay, dialogues, and acting is way below average. Some comedy scenes make you laugh, but most of them are lame and boring. In the second half, the movie seems to get more boring. The movie didn’t impress critics nor the public. It was a flop and was rated 3 out of 10 by IMDB.

Star Appearances:

Akshay Khanna’s acting, as always, is just around average, but he did better than the others. Arshad Warsi’s acting and dialogue delivery were pretty bad. Amrita Rao, the single actress in the movie, was disappointing as well. From her wardrobe to acting, everything was below average. Chunky Pandey is also in the film, in a supporting role. Co-producers Sanjay Dutt and Anil Kapoor both appear for a brief special appearance.
