Plot The movie Hum Hain Wonder Boys is a story about a group of five friends, Som, Mangal, Budh, Ravi and Poornima played by Sunil Tripathi, Rahul Dayma, Bablu Jaunpuri, Raj Chauhan Bio coming soon... >> Read More... and Harshita respectively. These five friends are ambitious and want to do big in their careers and become successful. They even make every attempt they can just to fulfill their wishes. However luck doesn’t favor them and suddenly one day they meet with an accident and all five lose their lives.
Even after, their desire to do something great in life remains. Therefore, their souls start communicating with each other. Finally, they enter the bodies of five orphan kids to fulfill their dreams. It is interesting to see how these souls rather the very desire of these five people takes them on the path to do great things and how far they can achieve what they wanted in their lives. The movie has both realistic and a supernatural touch to it with an emotional message.
Analysis The story by S .K. Amrit is unique, and though it has a supernatural content, it leaves a pretty nice message. What will be interesting is to note how far the director Anil S. Mehta has attempted to portray the unrealistic elements in a realistic way. However at the age of such modern and hi-tech movies, this one is a little out of place. It lacks the glamor to attract audiences. It seems to be like an old 60s-70s movie and definitely not a 21st-century one.
Star Performances: Sunil Tripathi as Som, Rahul Dayma as Mangal, Bablu Jaunpuri as Budh, Raj Chauhan as Ravi and Harshita as Poornima play the major roles in the movie. However, the performance could have been better with actors just trying to fit in at parts. They seem to have no strength. Mostly, they have not been able to put up with the choreography very well, and therefore they fall short of the expectations. It is hardly inspiring and the performance stands no chance. The music too is no good.
The director could have as well as have made the actors work a little better. Even the cinematography by Arun Phasalkar and Late Subba Rao does not work very well for the viewers as it is dull and out-dated. As far as dialogue delivery is concerned, it is still acceptable as compared to other areas. The entire film in a way looks nothing more than an old one and definitely not something that today’s audience will accept. No wonder Hum Hain Wonder Boys is a film one has not even heard about.
The performance of mostly everybody is unskilled and untrained with hardly any enthusiasm. Everybody just appears on the screen but still is absent and again at parts they over-act. In spite of having a good story, the execution is as bad. Overall, it’s pretty much a movie with poor skills and equally poor execution.
What’s there? One of the biggest plus points is the unique storyline. There has been good use of special effects wherever needed.
What’s not there? The performance put up by the actors is immensely weak and very unskilled. Music direction is too unpleasant and dull to attract audience. Cinematographic skills are also very poor as compared to modern day films. The choreography is also very uninspiring and lacks energy. In spite of a good story, the execution of the film, in general, is very poor and lacks strength. Especially in the modern day when execution plays a major role in the success of a film, here it is too weak and incompetent.
Verdict The movie is still not bad for a one time watch. If nothing but the story matters to you, then one can surely give it a try.
