Raj Surani

Raj Surani is a well-known Indian choreographer born on May 20, 1979, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He had a family of parents and two sisters. They lived in a 280 sq. ft. room in Versova, Mumbai. Raj heard about an opportunity to earn extra pocket money in 1996 at the age of 16, when he was studying at Rizvi College, Bandra. Choreographers of the Shahrukh Khan starring movie, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai(1998) were looking for extras for the song ‘Koi Mil Gaya’. He immediately grabbed the opportunity, gave the audition and got selected, making it his first project or entry into the Bollywood industry.

After working in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the industry started to appeal to him and he soon developed a passion for it when he got the opportunity of being an extra in yet another SrK starring blockbuster, Mohabbatein. At this point, he has passed his 12th standard. His desire to become self-sufficient drove him to continue working as an extra in films. But when his father passed in 1999, he had to take on the responsibility of his family as a son. So he aimed for a higher-paying job, that is, of a dancer.
