When one goes through the cast of Bombay to Goa, one sees an unending list of accomplished comedians. Some like Raju Srivastav This name does not need any introduction, as the I >> Read More... , Sunil Pal Sunil Pal is a popular comedian, film actor and vo >> Read More... gained fame from the Laughter Challenge The Great Indian Laughter Challenge is a standup c >> Read More... , whereas others like Asrani and Jaideep have been constant faces in the genre of comedy films. However, even the greatness of these individual comedians is not enough to make Bombay to Goa a successful comedy, primarily because of the absence of a good story-line.

Plot

The movie starts off a story of Lal and Das, who earn a lottery of 2 lakh rupees and start a bus service from Bombay to Goa. They manage to gather 15 passengers who are suspicious of the journey owing to the miserable condition of the bus. However, as the journey commences, a passenger played by MacMohan dies, and before dying declares that a hidden treasure is out there to be found. Thus, the story develops as all the passengers including the driver and the conductor begin to look for the treasure.

Star Performances

The movie does not do justice to the actors it has, but they still manage to infuse some laughter with the one liners.

What’s there?

The one-liners evoke laughter.

What’s not there?

The movie doesn’t have a bigger framework where all the actors have important individual roles, and there is a relevance of those roles with each other and the story. Instead, the movie seems to be a half-hearted attempt at incorporating all the actors on one screen. Individually, the movie comprises a lot of witty one-liners that ensure the audience breaks into laughter. However, they are very erratic, inadequate and usually end up looking irrelevant to the story of the movie.

Verdict

On the whole as a movie, Bombay to Goa leaves the viewer unsatisfied and with a feeling of disappointment.
