. It is a crime thriller movie that revolves around the underworld mafia that controls the syndicate in the city of Mumbai. It is about a battle for the succession of the seat of Nawab Khan.
Plot
The movie starts with the Nawab (Raza Murad) lying on a bed and the narrative tells that he’s suffering from blood cancer. His son Kadar (Abhimanyu Singh) is next to him. In the following scene, Kadar’s right-hand man Javed (Jimmy Sheirgill) informs him of a possible conspiracy that another one of his trusted friends Annya is playing against him to take over the seat of the Nawab and kill Kadar. ) disposes of the dead body secretly and sides with Kadar’s enemies and investigates the case, while also providing security to the other possible targets. When the news of Annya’s death reaches his father Pratab Shetty (Govind Namdeo) who is also the best friend of Nawab, he vows to kill Kadar. Kadar and Javed make a plan and set up Kadar’s bait to lure Pratab. They plan to kill him next. When Pratab falls for this conspiracy, he comes seeking revenge. To Kadar’s shock, Javed shoots him. Subsequently, Javed admits his plan to take the Nawab's position. Javed kills every friend and supporter of Nawab as the movie goes on. Finally, a politician extends an invitation to Javed for a cup of tea, signifying that he has accepted to take up Nawab's position.
Star Performance
Jimmy Sheirgill was a phenomenal choice for the role of Javed. His way of delivering dialogue, acting, and the way he slid into the character is commendable. Indraneil Sengupta has done more than well as a corrupted police officer.

Analysis
The film is brimming with plot twists and conspiracies, with suspicion about every character. It does not for even a moment make the viewers feel bored, with its conspiracies unfolding and every character dying. The writer has done an outstanding job. Some of the characters feel too powerful, like Madan Shikre. Javed on the other hand stands out with his icy demeanour and calculated approach. The movie does not fail to increase curiosity and leaves viewers all excited. With so many plot twists, it also keeps the viewers engaged.

Overall, the movie is an excellent work of crime fiction, with the runtime neither too long nor too short. It has the perfect crisp of a mafia movie with guns, shootings, and betrayals. The narrative is divergent from typical mafia stories and the movie provides a refreshing experience. The film has very well-crafted sequences that maintain a safe momentum. Aazam is worth a watch even for people who are not much into crime fiction. It keeps its viewers engaged throughout.
