Plot
The film follows Rex, played by Lil Rel Howery, a basketball player who wants to help his team win a basketball championship. However, he finds himself in a bleak situation after his teammates leave him to join his competitor Mookie, played by Nick Kroll. Just when he has lost all hope of winning the tournament, he is told to find Uncle Drew, played by Kyrie Irving, and his team. Then the film follows Rex’s journey of finding Uncle Drew and his teammates, now seniors who have settled in life. Their sports journey as men in their sixties makes for an entertaining film.
Star Performance
The players-turned-actors, such as Kyrie Irving, Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller, and Nate Robinson, have given stellar performances as senior citizens. All of them have made tremendous efforts in developing particular speech patterns and physical tics for their characters. Also, the film does not make use of its female star cast efficiently, and most of them have little to no screen time and impact.
Analysis
“Uncle Drew” is a good comedy film with lots of humor. The familiar faces of basketball stars playing senior citizens are a delightful sight. Although the film could have incorporated more sports play, it is still a good comedy for a wholesome family movie night.

Verdict
“Uncle Drew” could have been a significantly higher-rated film if all the stars had been allowed to showcase their characters instead of prioritizing humor over the characters’ depth. The film could have focused more on basketball to attract basketball lovers. Nonetheless, “Uncle Drew” is a great comedy film with a plethora of humor and a very impressive star cast.
