Plot
The film tells the story of a rural town in New South Wales named Bodgy Creak, which is suffering from many problems. The city is facing a drought and job scarcity after the closing of the timber mill, which employed many people. The townspeople are also racist towards refugees from other countries. The local football team called the “Roosters” is also struggling financially and can either fold or merge with another team. Neil, a young player played by Rafferty Grierson, befriends Troy Carrington, played by Damian Callinan, after he spent some time talking to Troy when he was grieving his father’s death. Troy used to be a big-time football star but was now hated by the town because his protests led to the mill’s closure. Neil and Troy try to help the town and the football team, but they are met with contempt because the townsfolk despise Troy. The football club’s President also dislikes Troy’s idea of making the refugees a part of the football team. The film follows Troy and Neil as they try to change the town’s racist views toward refugees.
