Plot 

The film’s protagonist is Sarah, played by Beattie Edmondson, who lives by herself in a new neighborhood after a bad breakup. Her family believes Sarah will always remain a spinster because all her relationships meet terrible fates. After her grandmother dies, Sarah reluctantly takes in her grandmother’s spoiled pet Patrick, a pug. Sarah’s life changes drastically with Peter’s arrival; she has to wake up early to take Patrick on walks, and feed him. But since Patrick helps her meet men at the dog park, Sarah feels ecstatic. The film then follows Sarah and Patrick’s life together. The film explores how Patrick’s arrival helped change Sarah’s life for the better. 

Star Performance 

Beattie Edmondson plays the role of the clumsy, hopeless Sarah perfectly. The pug is a delight to watch. Ben Roddy and Ed Skrein have also given good performances.  

Analysis 

“Patrick” is a light comedy with a heartwarming story. The bond a pet and its owner form with each other have been portrayed beautifully. The story flows naturally with no excessive plot twists.
