Plot
The film follows the trial of Abbie Hoffman, played by Sacha Baron Cohen, Jerry Rubin, played by Jeremy Strong, Tom Hayden, played by Eddie Redmayne, Rennie Davis, played by Alex Sharp, David Dellinger, played by John Carroll Lynch, Lee Weiner, played by Noah Robbins, John Froines, played by Daniel Flaherty, and Bobby Seale, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. They were planning to protest at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in 1968. None of them wished for the situation to escalate to the levels it reached, but the riots that ensued were chaotic and intense. They were later arrested and charged with crossing state lines to incite a riot. The film follows their trial which was shrouded in controversy and prejudice for the defendants.
Star Performance
The cast with Sacha Baron Cohen, Jeremy Strong, Eddie Redmayne, Alex Sharp, John Carroll Lynch, Noah Robbins, Daniel Flaherty, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is a powerhouse of talent and it is an absolute delight to witness them together on screen. Frank Langella also gives a good performance as Judge Hoffman.

The film perfectly portrays the Chicago 7 trial and how oppressive the legal system can be towards those who raise their voice against government’s actions. The film has a good script and a stellar cast.
