Analysis
A man has retired from his job. He was the best in business. However, an incident has forced him out of retirement. Hmm, where have we heard this before?
Wait, that is almost every random espionage drama made by Hollywood. However, ‘The November Man’ claims to be different. For starters, it is a novel adaptation that almost resembles the intense rivalry during the Cold War. We have Pierce Brosnan as a no-nonsense CIA operative. We have Olga Kurylenko as a feisty activist on the run. We even have Luke Bracey as a trigger-happy pupil of Brosnan, who is now pursuing his former teacher.
What could go wrong? Well, the movie adaptation of ‘There Are No Spies’ is anything but impressive. Even the best efforts of Pierce Brosnan cannot make up for the ludicrous storyline that this film has to offer. Of course, like every other American espionage thriller, it will show the USA as the good guys and Russians as the bad ones. If only they had focused on the screenplay as well.
As an action thriller, the film is not bad. Some sequences will make you take an interest in the project. However, the second half, as well as the ending, is so bizarre, that most of the viewers will scratch their heads in utter confusion.

Verdict
'The November Man’ is an espionage drama that has the potential to do something unconventional. The wafer-thin storyline, however, proves it otherwise. Watch it, if only for the performances of Pierce Brosnan, Luke Bracey, and Olga Kurylenko
