Well, here is another fantasy tale that simmers down to little-to-no excitement, contrary to what is expected from a fantasy movie. Of course, we have read “Nutcracker” in storybooks, but surely you wouldn’t want this one to be your regular Cinderella Click to look into! >> Read More... -ish fiesta.
A girl who is holidaying in Vienna gets the surprise of her life when her uncle gifts her a nutcracker, who actually is a Prince cursed by an evil Rat King who wants to spread chaos over the Prince’s kingdom. Mary has to help the Prince ”Nutcracker” to save his kingdom from the evil Rat King and restore peace that had prevailed earlier on.
Nutcracker is a usual fairytale-ish rendezvous with fantasy and adventure mixed with a couple of emotions that you might find in your usual ‘Cinderella’ or ‘Hansel and Gretel’. The only difference is, this time it will be disappointing.
Our two little protagonists in the form of Mary ( Elle Fanning The Younger sister of actress Dakota Fanning, Elle >> Read More... ), and the Prince (Charlie Rowe), go on a evil eradicating spree with Mary seeing what she had only dreamt in her little moonish dreams. Fairies, magic, and evil all come together to greet her and take part in this fantasy. Sadly, this movie is not quite the “cracker” that was being expected from it. Director Konchalovsky’s other ventures, which led him to believe that this could be a fantasy fiesta, drowns miserably, with little or no sense and directionless storyline. This is majorly being filled by Mary, and how? By chasing fairies to visit the kingdom, and having a random roam around, while our Prince is just going along? That is definitely not expected from a flick, which is supposed to be amusing the kids, not haranguing them with boredom.
Guys, “Nutcracker” is seriously a very nutty dimwit idea that spawned from nothing. If you seriously want a nutcracker, go and watch ‘Tom and Jerry’. You would be just fine and not reeling under the brain strain of having watched this movie.
