The November Man, starring Pierce Brosnan, Olga Kurylenko, and Luke Bracey is an American action thriller based spy movie on the novel ‘There are No Spies’ written by Bill Granger.
The November Man is a code name for Peter Devereaux, who is an ex-CIA operative. After five years of retirement, Devereaux is approached by his former boss John Hanley to take on one last mission. He is required to extract agent Natalia Ulanova from Russia. Natalia is a valuable witness who can expose the crimes committed by the Russian President candidate Arkady Federov. However, this mission makes Devereaux a target of his former pupil David Mason, who is a CIA protégé. He finds himself in a life-threatening game involving high-level CIA officials.
The movie is an efficient, espionage thriller filled with some dark twists and turns; but the plot is dull and does not bring anything fresh to the table. Pierce Brosman does his part very well as a spy, with good action scenes. However, his co-star Olga Kurylenko is pale in comparison with Brosman. The movie has a promising start but one can easily anticipate the end. Also, it doesn’t keep you engaged for 2 hours.
