Plot
‘Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping’ is a film about three friends who find success and popularity when they form a trio hip-hop group named the ‘Style Boyz’. These friends are Conner, Owen and Lawrence, and Conner is the front-man of the hiphop group. However, Conner later decides to go solo and leaves the band. His solo career was successful initially. He even decides to film a documentary about his life while still thriving. This very documentary captures his fall from fame when his second album fails to leave an impression. Conner tries his best to hold on to his celebrity lifestyle despite the failure.
Star Performance
Andy Samberg as Conner has done an excellent job playing the role of the arrogant, self-centered character.
Analysis
‘Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping’ is a hilarious film with many good comedic elements. In a way, this film mocks the film industry and does an excellent job of it with its hilarious scenes. The comedy was impressive; it combined silly fun and stupidity with more serious and emotional scenes. The movie’s pacing is quite fast most of the time but slows down during emotional scenes. Hence, the film is not overloaded with comedy, as the emotional scenes that balance it all out. Some of the songs in this film are great, while others are mediocre. All the cast members give an excellent performance. The cameos in the film add to the entertainment of the film. This film is not recommended for kids and is not family-friendly as there are scenes where characters expose their private parts, and there is also a lot of swearing in the film.
