Plot
Grace Wesley, a school teacher and a devout Christian, lands in grave trouble after she tries to answer some faith-related questions to clear the doubts of a troubled student. She is reprimanded widely for preaching religious views in a school, breaching the rule of separation of the state and the church. This leads to her facing a court trial. She stays firm in her belief in God’s justice and faces her challenges. An atheist takes up her case. The only way to win this argument is to prove that God is still alive through justice and faith. But what would be the Jury’s verdict? Will innocence win? The film follows the events leading to the Jury’s final decision.
Star Performance
God’s Not Dead 2 is the second installment of the series of movies. This one shows a substantial improvement in terms of acting and plot development. The major flaw lies in the direction of the film.
Analysis
The characters stick to the stereotypes that are usually related to their roles. For example, the Atheists in the film are shown to be rude and inconsiderate, with a mentality of trying to ‘prove that God is really dead’. Such character portrayal certainly lacks subtlety. The transition between the scenes is not very smooth, thus disrupting the flow of the movie. The quality of acting resembles that of a college-level play. Still, the film gathers some points by pointing out a few of the real-life problems in the society which lead to misunderstandings and unrest among various sections of the society.

Verdict
The movie is worthy of a casual watch if the viewer is interested in the topic, but it is not a film of utmost importance to the genre. The superficial take on various beliefs makes the film lack depth. So the movie might fail to engage a wide range of audiences. Overall, it is not a head-turning masterpiece, but it does a good job of focusing on the tussle between different religious sections.
