Plot:
The plot revolves around a young kid named Oskar, who had a father who recently died in 9/11 attack at the World Trade Center. His world collapsed around him, and he became extremely devastated. His despair led to him lashing out at the world and started becoming disconnected.Â
However, he found among his father’s belonging a key to which he was supposed to find the matching lock, a game that he very often used to play with his father. This lock will open up a final message that his father has left for him.Â
This movie is based on a novel that released in the year 2005 by the same name. The characters in the movie are of great depth. Thomas Horn played the role of Oscar with an immense amount of innocence and honesty. His performance is impressive and beautiful. All the adult actors also did a wonderful job doing the parts they were assigned.Â
There is intensity in each of the performances including the grieving mother to the child. Director, Stephen Daldry treats the heartwarming story rather pretentiously. He, however, still makes use of his craftsmanship in making the story worth telling. Apart from a story that is considered worth telling and is heart-warming, something that brings out the essence of the movie is the background score given by Alexandre Desplat.Â
It helps in elevation of the already heightened emotions of the movie and brings out the sensitivity of characters. It is because of the screenplay that is given by
