The most recent attempt at the narrative is Joe Wright's adaption of Cyrano. Cyrano de Bergerac is a wordsmith who has a thing for his longtime friend Roxanne. Roxanne, on the other hand, is in love with Christian, a good-looking young soldier. Christian, too, feels the same, but there is one problem. Roxanne wants to be wooed and get letters extolling how much he adores her. Unfortunately, Christian lacks the talent, so Cyrano steps in to write the desired love letters. Another suitor, a duke, intensifies his efforts to marry Roxanne. He is forced to endure his approaches to save her reputation while juggling the actual problems of the heart. The title character of "Cyrano" does not have the typical cartoonishly long nose in this adaptation. Instead, it allows Dinklage's Cyrano to battle other guys who misjudge him or make fun of his height.
Dinklage's acting is far more engaging than his singing, even though he does not have the most incredible singing voice in the ensemble. He conveys Cyrano's inner struggle on film with a tremendous feeling of anger and rejection.
The entire film was shot in Sicily, and the settings and costumes are unique. The icy battle sequences taken against the majestic background of Mount Etna are perhaps the most stunning visual feat. These vignettes must be among the most vivid battle scenes ever captured on film.
The sets and costumes are stunning.

Some minor flaws
Many mainstream adaptations of Cyrano de Bergerac, including one of the greatest, Fred Schepisi's Roxanne, starring and Daryl Hannah The 55-years-old Daryl is an American film actress >> Read More... , soften the play's finale, which Wright and Schmidt honor. Ailing, elderly, and seeking refuge in a church on occasion, Cyrano eventually exposes his secret to Roxanne, who had always suspected his feelings for her on some level. For once, the set design here sensitively matches the characters' feelings, as the gorgeous cathedral indicates that Cyrano is already in heaven, finally feeling love firsthand. Wright, like Dinklage, delivers a charming but insubstantial performance in this uneven but pleasant rendition.
