Plot
Amy (played by Kaitlyn Dever Kaitlyn Dever is an American actress and is a youn >> Read More... ) and Molly (played by Beanie Feldstein) spent their whole high school careers buckling down, missing parties, studying in the library, and engaging in extracurriculars, determined to get into the institutions of their choosing. They don't want to be like their burnout, partying peers, who are doomed to work at a gas station or whatever. At the end of their high school years, we see Molly getting into Yale while Amy gets into Columbia. Amy will spend the summer in Botswana teaching women how to make their tampons before heading to college. However, their peers also get into elite institutions. They didn't have to be homebodies to achieve their ambitions so they decide to go wild on the night before graduation and see what they were missing. They're going to a party hosted by one of their classmates. Booksmart follows the couple as they experience blunders, casual encounters, joys, sexual awakenings, and emotional insights.
Star Performance
The cast is an ensemble of talents and skills. It is indeed powerful with the right amount of comedy and drama.
Analysis
It's a comedy about friendship and being a nice person, ultimately giving in to what you want, updating your preconceptions and assumptions about people, and being bold enough to be yourself. The recurring theme in almost all scenes is that growing up is about realizing that nobody’s a stereotype. While the whole film is based on stereotypes, it has an underlying motive; to break the stereotype. The execution of this theme was not as smooth as it could have been but Olivia Wilde Olivia Wilde was born on March 10th, 1984 in NewYo >> Read More... has done an excellent job in putting the film together along this theme. As enjoyable as it was to witness a film about strong and supportive female friendships, it was also refreshing to have it set in a high school with a varied student population, sexual identities, and gender expressions.

Verdict
Although Booksmart does not break new ground or alter the teen comedy genre, its presentation of the subject is compelling enough that Generation Z will remember it for years to come. It is a must-watch for Gen Z and enjoyable, even though the characters and the plot are cliched and corny.
