Plot

This is the story of a soldier who fights a war with the entire government to save his family. The story starts and the scene of Ireland comes in front of us in 1847. At this time there is a war going on between Ireland and England but if anyone is worried the most then it is the ordinary people because they are dying in hunger. The whole land here has turned black and no matter what they do they cannot do the farming again. Also, the infrastructure is deteriorating during the war. Slowly and gradually England is trying to capture them due to which people everywhere are troubled. Hundreds of people of Ireland are killed every day. Meanwhile we see a soldier whose name is Hannah. Hannah used to be a British soldier. We see a young boy in front of him. Everyone believes that he is a spy and he is currently spying on Irish soldiers. Hana keeps asking him questions for a long time, but he does not give any straight answer. After seeing this, Hana becomes very angry and starts strangulating this boy. She does not even realize that he has killed this boy, then a scene of a village appears where we see a soldier who is coming back from the war, he was also in the British force, who has just fought in Afghanistan and India but after the war he has returned to his home. The rest of the movie unfolds with a lot of action.

Star Performance

The characters are strong and strung together perfectly well. The film in my mind is excellent in many ways well filmed, well-acted and believable enough. Atmosphere, settings, acting, and storyline. It all came together to make great production, tense, detailed, a really great watch.

Analysis

This film gave a us just a glimpse to the horror of those who suffered under the hand of those who considered that they had the people of Ireland best interest at heart. The characters are strong and strung together perfectly well and the story was straight forward and exciting. Not overloaded with too much action, no unnecessary killing or violence in the movie which is well handled and scripted.  This film gave a us just a glimpse to the horror of those who suffered under the hand of those who considered that they had the people of Ireland best interest at heart. Although this is not a true story, it’s set in a historical time accurately depicting the horrendous conditions the Irish were forced to live and die in.

What’s There?

  • Straight forward story which strung together perfectly well.

What’s Not There?

  • The film missed the opportunity to capture more aspects of the war.

Verdict

The movie is greatly thought-provoking, with detailed imagery, a progressive build-up and contemplative, open ending. Also, resounding patterns speak volumes about the vileness of British colonialism. Altogether, it’s an excellent film for a one-time-watch.
