Plot: The plot is about a bunch of adolescents being haunted by a mysterious appearance in their dreams. The appearance is that of a man called Freddy Krueger. Fred Krueger is a man with distorted features, and he intrudes the dreams of the kids. The intruder takes a toll on their lives in reality. The phenomenon is something strange. In the movie, the character Nancy emerges to solve the riddle. She senses something amiss. She finds out that a horrible secret maintained by her friends and their parents might be the tool for solving the problem. But, time is running out. Nancy has to solve the mystery, and her boyfriend Glen comes to her aid. Later, Nancy realizes that the menacing appearance is that of a dead man. The man had been burnt alive by the kids’ parents.
Heather Langenkamp as Nancy realizes that she cannot nod off to sleep just like her other friends. She has to be alert and take care that the terrible nightmares do not take a toll on her friend’s lives. The nightmares are similar and show a distorted figure having razors in place of fingernails. The screenplay shows a thin line between dream and reality and how dream takes over reality. Director Wes Craven’s thematic material has taken a turn for the good, and the movie has had seven sequels since its success.
Verdict: The movie deserves tremendous applauses from the audiences and is one of director Wes Craven’s best movies.
