Vetrimaaran reveals the ultimate truth.
The director smashed rumors of a possible rift with Dhanush due to his next venture with Silambarasan TR. According to some media reports, there were rumors that Dhanush isn’t impressed with Vetrimaaran attempting to extend the Vada Chennai movie into a franchise.
However, the director came out to clarify that his venture with Silambarasan is not Vada Chennai 2, but a different. He also pointed out that he owes a lot to Dhanush, who had helped him out financially.
Vetrimaaran had incidentally made his directorial debut in 2007 with Polladhavan, which starred Dhanush and Divya Spandana [Ramya] in the lead roles. Vetrimaaran and Dhanush did several movies together, amongst which the most iconic one turned out to be the social drama Asuran, for which Dhanush received the National Award for the Best Actor as well.
Vetrimaaran last directed Viduthalai Part 2, which starred Vijay Sethupathi, Manju Warrier, Soori, Bhavani Sre etc. in the lead roles. Contrary to his previous films, the film wasn’t as financially successful as Vetrimaaran had intended it to be.
