Gomathi Marimuthu from Trichy, grabbed a gold medal for India in the 800m running event in 23rd Asian Athletics Championships held in Doha. Gomathi clocked 2 minutes 02.70 seconds. Gomathi the 30-year-old, who lost her father, who motivated her at an early age got training from her coach. She lost her coach recently. But, without losing her hope she continued her training. She works in the Income Tax department in Bangalore. Among three of the children in the family, Gomathi is the first graduate.
