, Sumitra Mahajan and Murali Manohar Joshi would be selected as the presidential candidate. But, to the surprise of everyone, Ramnath Govind has been announced as the candidate. The presidential poll will be held on July 17th and the results will be announced on 20th July. The term of President Pranab Mukherjee ends on 25th July. The opposition parties haven’t yet announced their candidate. Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson Gopal Krishna Gandhi was their initial choice.
