Recently, the winners of the 70^th National Film Awards were announced by the Government of India. Amongst the multiple winners, ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ won big with its first installment, getting four awards in multiple categories.

‘Ponniyin Selvan I’ won the National Award for Best Tamil Film, Best Cinematography, Best Music Direction for Background Score, and Best Sound Design. The awards were announced in a press briefing by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
