23rd Asian Athletics Championships had been held in Doha. Gomathi Marimuthu from Trichy, Tamilnadu grabs gold for her nation in the 800m event. Gomathi excelledChina’s Chunyu Wang, Kazakhstan’s Margarita Mukasheva and Sri Lanka’s Gayanthika to bag the gold. She clocked 2 minutes 02.70 seconds and it is her best. Along with Gomathi’s gold, India got 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 5 bronze medals at the end of the Day 2. Tejinder Pal Singh Toor bagged gold in Shot Put. Last time Tejinder settled with silver.
