Captain Prabhakaran To Be Re-released?

Vijayakanth is back to entertain the audiences!

According to the recent reports, the iconic Captain Prabhakaran will be re-released in the theaters. The movie was released around the Tamil New Year in 1991. Vijayakanth’s personality became so popular, that the nickname Captain was almost attached to him for life. There were also rumors that the movie’s title was inspired from the leader of the LTTE faction, Velupillai Prabhakaran, though it was never confirmed till date.

Vijayakanth later became a cult icon in Tamil cinema, both socially and literally. He went on to found the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, a political unit which secured 29 seats in the state assembly elections in 2011. However, Vijayakanth couldn’t fight the health complications in the latter part of his life, and succumbed to a relapse of COVID-19 in 2023.
