The film crew had shot some scenes with the animals without getting prior permission from the Animal Welfare Board. When they had a raid, the Mersal team had hidden the truth that they used animals. But, the AWBI found out that they lied. Later, the producers, Thenandal Studio Limited admitted the truth and also assured that they would not use the scenes shot with animals. When they approached the AWBI for NOC, the board denied giving and hence the team could not acquire the censor certificate too.
