Another Festival In K'town!

It has been the tradition for Tamil films with big stars to release during festivals. The favoured festivals were Pongal, Tamil Puthandu or April 14th and Deepavali. Vinayagar Chathurthi got added to this list in early 2000 as the number of films released in Kollywood increased. Considering that the number of Tamil films releasing a year are 200 and above, producers thought of adding a new festival to this list—the Pooja season or the Navarathri festival. >

Navarathri is not a major festival in Tamil Nadu when compared to others, but Tamil film producers thought it suitable because it offers 4 holidays in a row for schools, colleges and offices and was sure to offer a great weekend at the BO. As of now, 4 films are supposed to release for the Pooja festival season. The first film to announce its release on 21st October was Fox Star Studios’ 10 Endrathukulla. It is U certified and will be screened across over 400 theatres. Naanum Rowdy Dhaan will release through Lyca Productions and producer Wunderbar Films claims that the film will release worldwide across 550 screens. The other films are still to give more information regarding their release.

Looks like Deepavali fireworks are starting earlier this year.
