Why Priyadarshan Shelved Mohanlal Starrer?

After a long gap, “Priyadarshan” and “Mohanlal” worked together in “Oppam” and the film has been running successfully in the theatres. Even before Oppam, Priyan announced another project with Mohanlal, which was planned to be shot in Russia. The budget was planned with Rs. 28 Crores. Aparna Gopinath was zeroed in to play the lead role with Mohanlal. It was told that the film would be released not only in Malayalam, but Russian and Turkish too. Even before the film started to roll, it was announced that it would be the high budget film in Malayalam. When Priyan started to script Oppam, he grew interested in shooting Oppam first. But, it took a long time to shoot Oppam and by the time, the climate in Russia had also changed. Moreover, Mohanlal’s date with his other commitments clashed with the film and hence the film was shelved. However, the duo would take the script in hand, once again.
