A Kerala transport bus from Bangalore to Ernakulam met an accident near Avinashi, Tamilnadu. The bus with 48 passengers collided with a tanker and 20 people were said to have been dead on the spot. 23 people are severely injured. The bus drivers named Girish and Baiju were also said to have died on the spot. The bus is completely damaged and nothing could be seen inside. It was stated that the truck lost its control and broke the divider and rammed into the bus. Among those 20 people, there were 6 women. Among the 48 passengers, 25 were traveling to Thrissur and the rest were on board to Palakkad and Ernakulam.
The truck with a huge container had been carrying tiles. The mishap happened at early morning 3:30 to 4:30. The driver might have been dozed off or the tire might have burst, stated the Palakkad SP. Almost all the deceased people are identified, stated the SP.
