Soundarya Raghu, the most favorite actress in the south Indian film industry in the late 90s and the early 2000s, lost her life in an air crash on 17th April 2004. Born in Karnataka, Soundarya had played in almost all the south Indian movies as well as Hindi, in a short period. Her performance in “
” was lauded by the critics and the audience. She played in 100+ movies in 12 years of her filmdom. Soundarya joined BJP in 2004 and she had been canvassing for the party. Along with Soundarya, her brother Amarnath also died in the plane crash.
After their death, her mother started Amarsoundarya Vidyalaya in Bangalore. Before her death, Soundarya had been running three schools for orphaned children. Two of her films released after her death; Shivashankar and “Apthamithra,” which is her final movie.
