Fiji is an island nation heavily populated by Indians. None would have thought that someday, an Indian-origin beauty would make the country proud by winning the Miss World Fiji 2016 beauty pageant, a path not traversed by many. Yet the unimagined turned into reality when 24-year-old Australian model
Pooja Priyanka
won the competition and what followed was a shower of appreciation and compliments from well-wishers all over the world. Pooja’s win didn’t come as a surprise to many as by the time of the crowning ceremony she had already bagged the Multimedia Award, Top Model, Best Talent and the Best Evening Gown Award. Though Pooja is settled in Sydney, she was born in the city of Lautoka in Fiji. The ecstatic model thanked her family during the media interaction for being the pillars of her strength. In December this year, the Miss World International is supposed to be held in Washington D.C. in the US and Pooja will be competing with winners from more than 100 countries of the world to win the title.
