1. Asianet

This channel rates 59.1 in the 2015 TAM Ratings thereby leading in the first position. Owned by the STAR India Company, it has many branches like Asianet News, Asianet Movies, and Asianet HD channel. The channel has many serials like ‘Parasparam’, ‘Chandanamazha’, and ‘Pranayam’, and Reality Shows like ‘Idea Star Singer’ and ‘Ningalkkum Aakam Koodeswaran’, and entertainment shows like ‘Badai Bungalow’, and ‘Cinemala’. The channel has its main center in Thiruvananthapuram and sub-centers in Tripunithara, Calicut, and Palarivattom.

2. Mazhavil Manorama

The Mazhavil Manorama channel based in Kerala is a part of the Malayala Manorama group which publishes the newspaper Malayala Manorama and the magazine ‘Vanitha’. Established in 2011, it has its headquarters in Aroor, Alappuzha. ‘De Chef’, ‘D 4 Dance’, ‘Ugram Ujjwalam’, and ‘Thatteem Mutteem’ are some of the top-rated programs of the channel. It takes up the second position with a rating of 16.2 in the TAM survey.

3. Surya TV

This channel is an alliance of the Sun Network that has many channels like Gemini TV and Sun TV. Launched in 1998, it has many entertainment programs, serials and reality show to entertain the audience. ‘Minnukettu’, ‘Velankanni Mathavu’, and ‘Indumukhi Chandramathi’ are some of the all-time favorite programs on Surya TV. It also has’ sister channels like Surya Music, Kiran TV, and Kochu TV. The channel has two studios in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, which are the main branches of the Sun Network in Chennai.

4. Flowers TV

Founded in November 2014 by Shri Gokulam Gopalan, it is an entertainment channel based in Kerala. The serials ‘Easwaran Sakshi’, ‘Moonumani’, and ‘Pokkuveyil’, have contributed to the rise in the rating of Flowers TV. Also, the entertainment shows, ‘Comedy Super Nite’ and ‘Smart Show’ continue as top hits in the television history. In the 2015 Tam Ratings, Flowers occupied the fourth position with 79728 points.

5. Kairali

Owned by the Malayalam Communications Limited, this channel is one of the old and acclaimed channels in Malayalam. John Brittas is the Managing Director of Kairali TV, chaired by ‘Mammootty’. ‘Aswamedham’, ‘JB Junction’, ‘Gandharvasangeetham’, and ‘Mampazham’ are the top-rated programs hosted by the channel with its headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram. Kairali WE, People, and Kairali Arabia are the sister channels of Kairali TV.

6. Amrita TV

Managed by the prestigious Mata Amritanandamayi Math, this channel became established in 2005 with the devotional talks and preaches of Mata Amritanandamayi, known as ‘Amma’. It has the headquarters in Vazhuthakkad, Thiruvananthapuram. The daily program starts with Amritavarsham at 6:00am followed by Udayamritam and Jeevadhara. Amrita TV also airs many famous shows like Annie’s Kitchen, a cookery show, ‘Duet’, a musical show, and Super Star Junior, a reality show.

7. DD Malayalam

A part of the Doordarshan channel, DD Malayalam is the earliest Malayalam television channel, established in 1985. It started as an entertainment channel, but with the advent of many other television programs, its rating came down. ‘Kairalivilasam Lodge’, ‘Orupooviriyumbol’, and ‘Giant Robo’ were some of the early programs telecasted on it. Nowadays, news and current affairs discussions rule the domain of the channel along with the occasional presentation of films.

8. Kappa TV

It is a 24-hour entertainment channel owned and managed by the Mathrubhumi group. The show ‘Music Mojo’ has become much famous and unique for its kind, giving a platform for budding singers and music bands. Mainly focusing on musical shows and film reviews, it has Bindaas Bollywood, Smoking Hot, Rise and Shine, Film Lounge, and The Big League as other programs. With the headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram, it has now become a leading favorite channel of the youth in Kerala.

9. Jeevan TV

With the headquarters in Palarivattom, Jeevan TV got established in 2002. It mainly places the focus on news programs other than television serials and chat shows. ‘Manthriyodoppam’ is a chat show with the ministers of Kerala. ‘Thararuchi’, ‘Nalapachakam’, and ‘Really Tasty’ are some of the entertainment shows telecasted on it along with the chat shows ‘Stars & Family’ and ‘Star Chat’. It also hosts entertainment shows like ‘Neitizen Journalist’ and ‘Gruhasakhi’.

10. Jaihind TV

Established and managed by the Congress Party of India, Jaihind TV started in 2007, promoting the UDF government. The Chairman of this channel is Ramesh Chennithala, who is the current opposition leader and the KPCC President. It places its focus on news presentations, debate shows, and discussions.
