Anushka Sharma starring in Bombay Velvet, a huge budget movie of 1.2 billion INR was predicted to break all Box Office Records. Bombay Velvet with a lot of expectations, turned out as the biggest high-budget flop movie.
Anurag Kashyap directed Bombay Velvet was rejected by the audience as it was not able to cover one–third of its budget value. It was considered as one of the biggest flops of Bollywood in 2015. Before the release of Bombay Velvet, no one would have thought that it’s going to be one of the biggest flopbuster of all time.
Mani Ratnam, Raavan was also considered as one of the biggest budgets movie of all time. With a massive budget of 1 billion INR, Raavan was Thriller entertainment starring Vikram,
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. It was a huge flop as its box office collection was almost half of the movie budget and it lost almost more than half of its budget value.
1 billion INR budget film Blue, was Bollywood’s most expensive entertainment feature in 2009. Directed by Anthony D’Souza and with a star cast of
Lara Dutta and
Zayed Khan, it most certainly had a big budget but it turned out to be one of Bollywood's biggest flops. Apart from the star power of Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt, Blue had some amazing production work, under water scenes and beauty of Bahamas. Special appearance by
Kylie Minogue was also not enough to attract the audience to come to cinemas.
Hrithik Roshan and
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Guzaarish was made with a budget of 750 million INR. It won a few awards for director
Sanjay Leela Bhansali but did not succeed to win the heart of viewers. Guzaarish was a huge loss for producers. Box office collection of the movie was not enough as it didn’t even reach 300 million INR. Guzaarish ended up being considered as a huge Bollywood disaster according to its box office collection in the end.
Starring Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapoor in a lead role was made up with a value of 700 million INR. Abhishek Kapoor’s Fitoor was based on Charles Dickens’s novel and had great expectations but all the estimation turned out to be incorrect and it added to expensive flop list of Bollywood. The beautiful land of Kashmir and Tabu acting for the role of Begum Hazrat in the film had received appraisal for her role but not able to create magic on the screen for the viewers. The slow pace of the movie was also one of the reasons why it didn’t work out.
Vikas Bahl’s Shaandar had come on screen after spending the budget of 680 million INR. A Fresh pair of
Shahid Kapoor and
Alia Bhatt failed to charm its way on screen. Songs were good but at the same time movie had no script. It was a great buzz that Shaandar would contribute to the successful cinema. Shaandar was an expensive flop as the movie was not able to cover its cost at the box office.
Here is Abhishek Bachchan with yet another expensive flop of Bollywood. Director Goldie Behl and the movie starring Abhishek Bachchan and
Priyanka Chopra miserably failed to impress the audience. Investing a huge budget of 600 million INR on Abhishek Bachchan was actually a risky move in itself. The movie was a huge disaster due to its box office collection. The movie was full of imaginary rubbish that confused the audience. The film was not able to collect half of its value and again adds itself to the list of all time expensive flops of Bollywood industry.
Abhinav Kashyap directed movie Besharam had a star image of Ranbir Kapoor and huge Budget of 600 million INR. When Besharam released, everyone was puzzled that why a star like Ranbir Kapoor agreed to do a movie like this. Initially, his stardom succeeded to bring the audience to the theaters but due to its bad script, the movie eventually failed at the end. The movie ruined the stardom of Ranbir Kapoor and only managed to collect one-third of its budget value according to its box office collection. Besharam was expensive flops of Bollywood as well a big flop for Ranbir Kapoor.
Love Story 2050
Harry Baweja was launching his son

The movie Love Story 2050, starring debutant Harman Baweja and Priyanka Chopra was all set to impress the audience with the new idea of a futuristic science-based love story. The movie earnings were almost half of its budget value. The movie was in a little buzz regarding its special effects but apart from that the dream project love story 2050 of Harry Baweja had failed due to its bad or meaningless script.
Anurag Basu, Kites featured Hrithik Roshan and
Barbara Mori, a Mexican actress in a lead role. Movie budget was 600 million INR, although the film was a big Flop, it had failed to collect even its budget value at the box office. Kites was an example of overconfidence as everyone was sure that the movie will be a great success but it did not happen and kites had added itself to the list called expensive Bollywood flops.
