Born in an army family to Col. AjayKumar and AshimaSharma on May 1st 1988, Anushka Sharma has excelled in her career as an actress. Upon graduating from Mount Carmel College, she set her eyes in the modeling world. Her breakthrough came when she modeled for at the Lakme Fashion Week in 2007. She at the time had no such aspirations to become an actress.

Anushka got her first role in the 2008 hit Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, which also starred the great . Critics praised her for her acting skills, for being able to play the role with such confidence and ease. She then appeared under the Yash Raj banner in Badmassh Company. In the film she portrayed a feisty and independent character and lived up to it, which showed her versatility as an actress. She did two more movies under the banner in and . The latter became a hit and showed her versatile acting skills as she portrayed a wedding planner who falls in love with her partner. Anushkha landed the Best Actress award at IIFA and Apsara Film & Television Guild Awards along with the Best Couple award for her on screen pairing with in the movie.

In 2012, she worked with Shah Rukh Khan again in Jab Tak Hai Jaan. She played the role of Akira Rai, a documentary filmmaker, in the romantic drama. For her role in the movie she won the Best Supporting Actress at Filmfare, Zee Cine, Stardust, and IIFA awards. Anushka recently starred opposite in the blockbuster PK. The movie, which questions religion and the superstitions that come with, became a huge hit worldwide. It has broken box records in India and around the world for an Indian film. Anushka made her debut as a producer in NH10 in 2015 along with playing the leading role. It is a crime-thriller that looks at various social issues such as honor killing and street crimes in India.
