The film had a similar story, but was shot with modern techniques and was given a modern twist, that added to the curiosity and love that people already feel for the classic. The added charm of Shah Rukh Khan assured the success of the film.
Bollywood films generally portray their male lead to be a man who is all knowing, powerful and never losing. However, in this film the male lead was shown to be a loser and Shah Rukh Khan himself has stated that the film is his favourite. So much so, that he only took 5000 rupees as the signing amount, and over all, he took 25000 rupees for completing the film.
