Khuda ki Basti, literally translated to “God’s Abode,” is considered the greatest serial in Pakistani Television. It was aired on PTV Home, once in 1969, and then again in 1974. It was based on the novel of the same name, Khuda Ki Basti, by Shaukat Siddique. The serial reached a phenomenal level of popularity and was called the “Mother of All Serials.” The story follows the lives of the poor people living in a slum in Karachi after the Independence of Pakistan.
