1. Khuda Ki Basti


Image Khuda ki Basti, literally translated to “God’s Abode,” is considered the greatest serial in Pakistani Television. It was aired on PTV Home, once in 1969, and then again in 1974. It was based on the novel of the same name, Khuda Ki Basti, by Shaukat Siddique. The serial reached a phenomenal level of popularity and was called the “Mother of All Serials.” The story follows the lives of the poor people living in a slum in Karachi after the Independence of Pakistan. Razia Begum is a widow who belongs to a respectable family and lives with her three children. They are down on luck and due to the scarcity of jobs and money, the people have to resort to dangerous and illegal means to earn money for their survival.
