Nighat Butt, a Pakistani actress and singer, was born in 1948 in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. She graduated from the University of Lahore, and started stage acting in 1960. Initially, she sang songs in movies and then worked as a lead role in some of Abid Ali’s TV dramas. She worked in Punjabi, Urdu, and Pashto films. She also appeared in dramas and telefilms like Samunder, and ‘Boota from Toba Tek Singh’. Furthermore, in 2018, the government of Pakistan honored her with the Pride of Performance award for her contributions towards the television industry. Nighat Butt was married to actor Adib Butt until his passed away in 2013.
They had three daughters and one son Nomi Butt. Later, she adopted her deceased brother’s one daughter and a son after her husband’s demise. Nighat was a patient of cancer and diabetes, and started developing blood pressure issues at the age of 70. She passed away due to a cardiac arrest on 6th February 2020, at the age of 72, in Lahore.
