He was born on August 16, 1969, and he started his journey as an Executive-in-Charge of Production in Ram Gopal Varma’s romantic comedy film Rangeela in 1995. He went on to work in the same position in movies like Deyam (1996), Anaganaga Oka Roju (1997), Chandralekha (1998), Samudram (1999), Shakti: The Power (2002), Murari (2001), Khadgam (2002), and a lot more. Praveen Kumar has then worked as Production Manager of Telugu hits Money Money, Gulabi, and Anaganaga Oka Roju.

In 2002, he started to produce films independently and started with the Telugu musical hit film, Kalusukovalani. He also produced the films Bhagyalakshmi Bumper Draw and Pothe Poni that bagged the Nandi Award for Best Feature Film in 2006.
