Kakinada Shyamala is a popular film actress. She has acted in almost two hundred films in Telugu and Tamil. She was born and brought up in Kakinada. Her father died when she was just a child. She attended Joseph Convent Boarding School until 8th standard. She was a stage artist too. She was always encouraged by her family to act in plays even though it was not her area of interest. She excelled and the roles of mythological characters like Chintamani, Vasanthasena, and Pramila. She has won many prizes through her acting in social dramas. She made her film debut through the film Marocharitra in 1978. Her works include; Guppedu Manasu (1979), Nithya Sumangali, Krishnayya (1982), Tarangini (1982),  Ananda Bhairavi (1984), Preminchu Pelladu (1985), and many more.
