Phanindra Narsetti was born in Andhra Pradesh, India, in the year 1988. He is a Telugu film director who has directed films like Manu(2018) and Madhuram (2014). He is a self-taught filmmaker who strongly believes that creativity cannot be taught. When he announced his love for cinema to his family, they advised him to get into a film institute or work under some filmmaker but Phanindra did not want to do the same, so he started his work from zero. He began participating in global advertising competitions and making short films. He was twice awarded International awards for Mofilm in Goa and Kathmandu festivals, in the year 2010 and 2011 consecutively.
This helped him to reach a position in the top 10 Mofilm Indian filmmakers at the very start of his career. A determined Phanindra started experimenting and it was then that he realised the importance and benefits of learning independently, including the flexibility to make mistakes and the ability to hone a skill over time. He experimented with his very first short film which was called Backspace. He shot and edited the film using only an iPhone 4s. His action inspired many other film enthusiasts around him to try out the same and make their films.
